Announcing Goals $15M Seed to bring football to Web3

Goals is building a Web3 native AAA football game universe, where fans from across the globe can meet, play, build and compete all while owning their own assets. A true metaverse experience if you will, where learning about blockchain, wallets, and gas fees is not a prerequisite to play.
For many millennials Song 2 by Blur was the defining soundtrack of adolescence, staying up late or skipping school to play FIFA. And while the world has changed since 1998, football games, in all honestly, haven’t. The lag, price tag, lack of meaningful updates, and complete monopolization of the world’s largest sport are striking. Recognizing there wasn’t a fast-paced, competitive, multiplayer-focused football game worthy of the hundreds of millions of football fans globally, the team at Goals has set out to change this. To that end, Goals is first and foremost about creating a great football and gaming experience that is widely accessible, fun to play, and easy to interact with.
Taking a step back, Goals is not only building a football game but the first true incarnation of what we believe parts of the metaverse will actually look like. A vertical, digital world, contextualized around a movement, in this case football, where fans can meet, play, watch and compete. Moreover, we fundamentally believe an increasing amount of value will be created and consumed digitally as consumers spend more time online and explore the potential of web3 and the Metaverse. Here, DLT is key as it enables the ability to actually create, store and own new digital football legends and legacies.
From the moment we met with The Goals team we knew they had all the hallmarks of creating something very special.
